an exhibition in the UHM Commons Gallery March 2010
After reading Temporary Services ArtWORK newspaper my Art Since 1945 Class decided to create an exhibition to spark conversation about the real effects of the economic downturn on the local art community. The exhibition was a mock economy based on artistic exchange. Voluntary participants were encouraged to make art and therefore become a ‘stakeholder.' In exchange for their ‘investment,’ participants become artists, and enjoy the pride and satisfaction of being in a show. They were also invited back for the closing ceremony where limited edition copies of ArtWORK were distributed, and ‘investments,’ were re-distributed to the ‘stakeholders,’ or destroyed in the liquidation of the mock economy.
